She who is smoke sits on a charriot and stares at us with an all-knowing benevolent smile. Dhumavati knows the way to peace and freedom, she invites us to experience the power that lies beyond appearances. She bids us to move forward and within, even when smoke obscures the way.
In essence, Dhumavati represents the wise Grandmother power. Dhumavati has moved through all stages of life, she has known many disappointments and failures, and guides us gracefully through our own. She is the comfort when everything falls apart.
Where do you find grace in the midst of disappointment? How can you move forward when the way is veiled?
In this 8th workshop of a series of ten on the MahaVidyas, the Great Wisdom Goddesses, we meet Dhumavati and learn to embrace setbacks and solitude. We will explore somatic experiencing, pranayama, and meditation. In this 3-hour workshop expect discussion and stories. Bring pen and journal, wear layers. All levels welcome.
ABOUT THE WISDOM GODDESSES
The Wisdom Goddesses, known as the MahaVidyas, each hold the key to a particular approach to freedom and Self-realization. Kali, the first of the MahaVidyas, is the fierce and unyielding power that helps us destroy what is holding us back. Tara, the second, carries us compassionately from the old to the new in the incessant renewal of life and learning. Lalita Tripura Sundari, the third, is the power of attraction and polarity that reveals beauty and gives meaning to our life. Bhuvaneshvari, the fourth, holds all of existence. Bhairavi, the fifth, urges us to see the war within for what it really is and to embrace the discomfort of change. Bagala commands respect for silence and truth, and graces us with the ability to focus our energy for maximum impact. Chinnamasta invites us to experience life through the wisdom of the body and to surrender our attachment to our thinking mind. Dhumavati helps us connect to our innate grandmother wisdom, across all ages and stages of life.
This series of ten workshops is designed as an exploration into the representations, stories, and practices related to the MahaVidyas. You can take part in any of the workshops.
